YOUR TASKS
- Input in the strategic development of the North American politics, sociology, and geography programs in close coordination with our Editorial Director for the Social Sciences
- Acquiring new titles and new editions of key backlist titles in the areas of Political Science and other related areas
- Expansion and fostering of academic networks with authors, editors, societies and research institutes in North America and Canada.
- Budget responsibility for project signings and output towards achieving commercial objectives
- Representation of the programs at international academic conferences
- Close collaboration with our editorial offices, marketing, communications, and sales teams
Part of the Humanities & Social Sciences division, the social sciences department constantly develops the portfolio of first-class scholarly publications. In your role you will be responsible for the acquisition and conceptualization of new academic book series and the development of our politics/IR and related areas, with particular focus on the acquisition of North American authors and editors. The contract is permanent.
YOUR PROFILE
- Demonstrable relevant acquisitions/commissioning experience within the relevant areas
- A relevant degree in a Social Sciences subjects
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
- Experience in building and maintaining an academic network in North America
- Intellectual curiosity with a passion for finding creative solutions towards developing publishing products
- Must be highly motivated and possess a self-starting attitude
