SENIOR JOURNALS MANAGER - HUMANITIES & LINGUISTICS (F/M/D)

Our Journals Team manage the publication of high-quality academic journals. In your role as Senior Journals Manager – Linguistics and Humanities, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of journals in these and affiliated subjects; leading the proactive management and development of these journals, line management of Journal Managers in affiliated disciplines and fostering the overall program’s sustained growth. It is a customer facing relationship management position, working with academics and societies. This job is a full time role. You can work form our Berlin office, or remote from within Germany, UK, Ireland, Poland, China, Singapore, Hong Kong or the U.S.

YOUR TASKS

  • Leading the growth, development, and smooth running of a key journal subject portfolio
  • Building and sustaining great relationships with our authors, editors and societies, as well as the global scientific research community 
  • Representing De Gruyter at relevant external meetings and events
  • Colleague and line management responsibilities
  • Close collaboration with colleagues across the global business for delivery of KPIs related to the portfolio
  • Working closely with Journal colleagues to develop and implement a strategy for a competitive portfolio
  • Support and improve our Open Access progression
 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Relevant research background or a comparable degree, preferably a Master or Diploma, or extensive experience
  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of (ideally interdisciplinary) journal titles
  • Fantastic communicator adept at networking and effective collaboration with scientists and researchers worldwide
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to question existing assumptions and practices and actively seek solutions
  • Thorough understanding of editors’ and authors’ needs in their publishing activities, including open access
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Can demonstrate due consideration of research communities
  • Passionate about people and their careers
  • German language fluency preferred
