CLOUD DATA ENGINEER (F/M/D)

Join us in shaping the future of communication in the scientific community. As a member of the Data & Analytics team, you will support our business to take the right decisions in our aim to foster science.  You will be responsible for developing, owning, maintaining robust scalable data ingestion in our cloud platform. You will be a subject matter expert in integration, transformation, and consolidation of data from various structured and unstructured data sources that are suitable for building analytics solutions. This is a permanent role reporting to the Director of Data and Analytics based in Berlin.

YOUR TASKS

    • Design and develop cloud based ETL pipelines to ingest data from variety of internal and external sources
    • Liaise and collaborate within and outside the D&A team to understand business data
    • Actively contributing to data architecture design by following standards, design principles and good practices.
    • Monitor, optimise, enhance, maintain and support data platforms to meet data pipeline needs
    • Work on the cloud data warehouse migration project and deliver technical and business outcomes
    • Collaborate with the D&A and wider technology teams through effective communication
    • Help stakeholders to understand the data through exploration, building and maintaining secure and compliant data processing pipelines by using different tools and techniques
    • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and revision documents
 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Must Have

    • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a data engineer
    • Hands on experience of building robust and scalable cloud-based data tools (ie: Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL)
    • Hands on experience building Data Warehouse objects from scratch
    • Writing complex SQL to answer data questions and aggregated outputs and data transformations
    • Familiar with Data Warehouse and Microsoft SQL server environments, platforms, tools and practices
    • Excellent communication skills in English

     

    Nice to have

    • Familiarity with Data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau etc.
    • Python or any other similar object-oriented language
    • Good level of experience on data modeling in Analysis Service, DAX and query optimization
    • Good German language skill is a plus
