CONTENT STRATEGIST (F/M/D)

De Gruyter is looking for an experienced content strategist to own and drive our website content creation workflow. Working closely with a cross-departmental team, you will orchestrate the creation, editing, publication, and governance of content on De Gruyter’s corporate website based on our users' needs, business objectives and brand messaging. Your job is to make sure our corporate website as the main brand communications channel hosts usable, engaging, discoverable, and up-to-date content for key audiences like academic authors, researchers, librarians, and readers. This full-time position can be filled in our Berlin office or remotely.

YOUR TASKS

  • Implement and drive a user-driven and data-driven content strategy, including editorial and content management workflows, information architecture, site taxonomy, URL structure, and content mapping based on key messages for our corporate website 
  • Collaborate with and steer colleagues and freelancers in web copywriting, UX design, SEO, website and product development, editorial, sales, marketing, data, and CRM to jointly create relevant and usable website content for key users like academic authors, researchers, and librarians        
  • Write, develop, and copyedit engaging multimedia website content working closely with subject matter experts across departments, helping them translate user and business needs into readable, engaging, discoverable website content   
  • Develop and implement content creation guidelines, train colleagues in content creation, CMS usage, content optimization, and writing for the web 
  • Review and integrate user insights and web analytics data into the content strategy, establish popular content types and keywords amongst our targeted audiences, prioritize which content needs to be created first
 

YOUR PROFILE

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a content strategy, content management or strategic content writing role – be it for an agency or in the tech, start-up, (academic) publishing, higher education or cultural sector 
  • Native-level English speaker with an editor’s eye, impeccable grammar, excellent writing and storytelling skills  
  • A creative mind and strategic thinker with (basic) understanding of user experience, search engine optimization and content management systems, as well as project management skills  
  • Experience working in academia, (science) journalism, scholarly communications, (academic) publishing, or other experience with creating digital content for academic audiences like scholars, authors, librarians 
  • Excellent German copywriting and communication skills are optional, but would be a huge plus
