Full Stack Developer (f/m/d)

Berlin | Full-time | As soon as possible

As Full Stack Developer you are responsible for designing software and an architecture that changes the digital experience of our inhouse staff and customers. As part of the Digital Products Engineering team, you will combine your technical expertise and a can-do attitude to continuously improve our internal and external user experience. If needed, the role can focus on backend development at first, we would encourage and support you in expanding your skills into frontend technologies over time. This is a permanent role based in Berlin.

Your tasks

  • Responsible for developing, enhancing, re-engineering & maintaining applications with Scala/Java
  • Contributing to the overall design and architecture of the applications developed and deployed, including online products and an internal data distribution system
  • Interacting with business users to understand requirements and troubleshoot issues
  • Implementing own projects based on functional specifications
  • Finding creative ways to solve difficult business and data issues
  • Staying up-to-date on competitor products and industry trends
  • Leading a culture of collaboration and transparency across the department

Your profile

  • 3-5 years of experience as Full Stack Developer
  • Strong proficiency in a JVM language (i.e. Scala, Java, Kotlin)
  • Experience in working within an AWS/micro service environment and in building, scaling and maintaining an ETL architecture
  • Self-driven and capable of independently developing new technical skills as needed
  • Knowledge of IAAS tools like Terraform is a plus
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases is a plus
  • Familiarity with XML based databases like Marklogic as well as with XSLT is a plus
  • Knowledge of the publishing industry is a plus
  • Strong portfolio of technical projects
  • Good communication skills in English; German is a plus
